Introduction/Summary

I am a student of Mechanical Engineering and aspire to be a Mechanical Design Engineer. Currently a junior at the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, I am actively looking for internships in my area of study.

I have excellent attention to detail and am good at three-dimensional visualization, given proper description. Armed with a fertile imagination, I pick up instructions and new skills pretty quickly once demonstrated.

I am proficient in mechanical design software like AutoCAD, am comfortable with programming in Java, C, and MATLAB, and am familiar with Python, and Machine Learning Algorithms. I am currently training myself in Web Development

I indulge in chess matches with my friends from time to time, and in my leisure, read books and watch movies. This is my portfolio website. You can find details about my work and projects here.

Manual Robotics - Remote Operated Robot

Manual Robot - Remote Operated

After learning the basics of manual robots like various motors, gears and switches, we built the robot in two days working as a team of three, in November 2019 at the Manual Robotics Workshop conducted by Robocell, CCA, with the help of senior members of CCA.

  • Took the necessary measurements for clamps and holders and fixed them in place for the motors.
  • Installed wire connections from control hub of the remote to the motors.
  • Tuned the positions of worm & spur gears to reduce noise while working.

Collaborators:

It is a basic robot with grabbing arms, rough around the edges since we beginners then.

Generative Design

Generative Design for bookshelf rack

Having learnt how to use the interface of the Autodesk Fusion 360 app, I used the Design and Generative Design worksbenches to produce generative designs for multiple simple objects. This project was created durng the Generative Design course from Coursera. You may see the certificate in the Certification section.

  • Learnt to use the Autodesk Fusion 360 Workspace.
  • Used the Generative Design workbench to create Preserve and Obstacle geometry. Defined load cases according to expected usage.
  • Created the Generatve Design according to project specification, using multiple materials and manufacturing methods.
  • Post processed the exported design to remove unnecessary extrusions in the design.
  • Inserted the exported design (angle bracket) in the project model (book shelf).
  • Completed other models.

Being a beginner project, the designs are simple ones, yet they helped me learn the process and skills in the up and coming field of Generative Design.

Portfolio Website

Portfolio Site

After learning the basics of HTML5 and CSS3, I have been designing this website to showcase my portfolio, starting in April 2021. It is still a work in progress, so expect frequent changes in the design. The site is hosted on Github Pages and you are already looking through it.

  • Designed the basic content layout.
  • Added CSS rules to beautify the content.
  • Made the design responsive. Check it out by resizing the browser window.
  • Used position:sticky for the navigation bar.
  • As soon I hone my JavaScript skills, I will add some here.

After learning the essentials of Python and Machine Learning Algorithms, I applied my acquired knowledge to build an ML model that predicts the price of a used car from its features like brand, car type, year of manufacture, fuel type, kilometers driven, etc, while working with a team of interns to complete the assigned major project.

  • Collaborated with teammates via Google Classroom
  • Performed EDA on provided dataset for used cars.
  • Removed outliers and cleaned up anomalies.
  • Trained different ML models like Linear Regression, Ridge Regression, Decision Tree Regresion, Bagging Regression, and Random Forest Regression on the dataset to check their R2 and RMSE values.
  • Built Random Forest Regression model to predict the prices

I also performed Exploratory Data Analysis upon students' test performance data on my own at the start of this internship.
